Updates for Week of April 5th

As Covid-19 cases continue to rise in our state, AAPS has decided to have all Spring athletes get tested on Monday, April 5th. See our Covid-19 page for full details. All sports will NOT resume as anticipated directly after the testing on Monday. Instead the district will review the results of all Spring athletes on Tuesday or Wednesday and make a determination as to when Spring sports will resume.

The photo shoot scheduled for Monday is canceled and being rescheduled. Unfortunately our Wednesday, April 7th games are canceled as well. The Chelsea JV game on Friday, April 9th is canceled because Chelsea is not able to make a JV team. The Varsity game is moved to 5:30pm.

We will also hold a player zoom meeting Monday, April 5th 2021 after all testing is done @ 7pm. Followed by sports nutrition session at 7:30pm. This will be to update players on how coaches will stay connected, what is expected of our athletes the week of 4/5-4/9 and answer any questions we can about the current status of the Spring sports and our schedules. Then we will have a sports nutritionist speak with players about best ways to properly fuel student athletes throughout the season. read more

Team Placements

We will hold a zoom meeting Thursday, March 25th @ 4:30pm at our regular training time. We were able to create 3 healthy teams, building what we see as a great foundation for our program.

We will communicate team placements for all players, by having players come at assigned times based on their grade. We will utilize a waiting room, to pull individual players in to speak with them.  Join Zoom Meeting

  • 4:30 – 5pm – 9th Graders
  • 5:00 – 5:30pm – 10th Graders
  • 5:30 – 6:00pm – 11th Graders
  • 6:00 – 6:30pm – 12th Graders

While doing this process through Zoom is not our ideal choice for communicating player placement, we believe it is the best choice to put us in a strong position to start the season without any further disruption. This process takes time, we want to make sure players get to hear from us directly and we want the players to feel they have the time to ask questions and see how they fit in with our program. So we appreciate your patience if our timing runs over a bit.

We will hold our already scheduled parent meeting shortly after at 7:30pm. This will provide everyone the opportunity to get all the necessary information for starting the season.

We are so excited about the potential of this year, we saw tremendous effort and plenty of good play around the fields. We saw connection and support for players of all ages. We saw commitment to building a positive and competitive program.

Best,

Tryout Schedule Change

We would like to inform the players and families that there are NO POSITIVE COVID-19 tests among our players. We were informed last night & today that we do have multiple players who have had potential contact outside of sports with persons displaying symptoms. Out of an abundance of caution, and in communication with the athletic department, we have decided that our schedule for tryouts will change.

1) Today, March 24th will be NON-MANDATORY.
2) Our format will be INDIVIDUAL ball work & distanced passing patterns.
3) NO TEAM PLACEMENTS will be communicated today.
4) Training today will end at 6pm.

Tonight coaches will review the information and make a plan for the following 2 days to complete the tryout process. We have been extremely happy with all our student athletes’ diligence during training and hope to move quickly back into our regular routine.  This decision is made to best ensure our program has a successful start.
Feel free to reach out directly after our scheduled NON-MANDATORY training time if you have any questions.  read more
